Alectra Powers Communities Beyond Our Borders

Hamilton Business Review
“Alectra Utilities has been honored by the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) for its generous contribution toward restoring power to Ukrainian schools devastated by Russia’s relentless missile and drone strikes.
During a presentation to Alectra’s Board of Directors on November 21, UWC President Paul Grod highlighted the severe destruction of Ukraine’s energy and civilian infrastructure caused by over three and a half years of attacks, which have intensified in recent weeks. Grod emphasized that more than 50% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, leaving millions of Ukrainians facing a dark and cold winter.
As part of its commitment to humanitarian support, Alectra donated $100,000 to UWC’s Energize Ukraine initiative. These funds were used to build a solar-powered microgrid with battery storage at a school northeast of Kyiv. This system ensures that children have access to light and heat during the winter months and serves as a community resiliency centre during outages.”
