Alectra Utilities has been honored by the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) for its generous contribution toward restoring power to Ukrainian schools devastated by Russia’s relentless missile and drone strikes.

During a presentation to Alectra’s Board of Directors on November 21, UWC President Paul Grod highlighted the severe destruction of Ukraine’s energy and civilian infrastructure caused by over three and a half years of attacks, which have intensified in recent weeks. Grod emphasized that more than 50% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, leaving millions of Ukrainians facing a dark and cold winter.

As part of its commitment to humanitarian support, Alectra donated $100,000 to UWC’s Energize Ukraine initiative. These funds were used to build a solar-powered microgrid with battery storage at a school northeast of Kyiv. This system ensures that children have access to light and heat during the winter months and serves as a community resiliency centre during outages.
